Mari wields both magic and machinery with great skill. She is also very skilled in defending and evading, as she dislikes direct combat with her foes. Utilizing machines fueled by her specially produced Magic Stone, Mari showcases new battle tactics that have been previously unheard of. While coolly assessing the situation on the battlefield, Mari strategically sets up her machines, driving enemies into a corner and exposing their position.

Unlocking

As a first class, Rune Caster does not need to be unlocked; Mari starts as this class.

Machinery Summon

Mari creates a small blue turret that fires a cannonball which travels downwards. The turrent can be destroyed by opponent's attacks and will expire after 6 shots have been fired.

(Note: only two turrets may be deployed on the field at the same time. Attempting to deploy a third one will remove the first one.)

(Note: there is a cooldown of 10 seconds in  PvP after creating the machine)

C + Arrow R Cannon II

Mari creates a small red turret that fires a cannonball in the air which travels downwards in an arc fashion, and leaves burning embers on contact with the ground. The turrent can be destroyed by opponent's attacks and will expire after 6 shots have been fired.

(Note: only two turrets may be deployed on the field at the same time. Attempting to deploy a third one will remove the first one.)

(Note: there is a cooldown of 10 seconds in  PvP after creating the machine.)

(When affected by Deadly Test) C + Arrow L Deadly Cannon

Mari deploys a white turret that fires without delay three cannonballs that spread and travel a fair distance. The turrent can be destroyed by opponent's attacks and will expire after 11 shots have been fired.

(Note: only four Deadly turrets may be deployed on the field at the same time. Attempting to deploy a fifth one will remove the first one.)

C + Arrow D Protection

Mari creates a small construct that splits in half periodically to generate a blue wall of lightning between its two pieces.

(Note: only one Protection may be deployed on the field at the same time. Attempting to deploy another one will remove the first one.)

(Note: there is a cooldown of 10 seconds in  PvP after creating the machine.)

(When affected by Deadly Test) C + Arrow D Deadly Protection

Mari creates a small construct that splits in half periodically to generate a red wall of lightning between its two pieces.

(Note: only four Deadly Protections may be deployed on the field at the same time. Attempting to deploy the fifth one will remove the first one.)

C + Arrow U Summon W.D.W. Mari attracts screws to summon the Wing Drive Weapon. However, when she is charging, she is a sitting duck as she can only cancel the charging pose with a skill.

Stance Change

Like the Rama Class, the Rune Caster has a special ability called "Arcane Mode", which allows her to use numerous abilities by a combination of buttons.

X+X Stance Mode Mari summons a Nano Machine, dealing damage nearby and allowing her to summon a Mana Shield or attack the opponent with the Nano Machine.


(Note: This ability will wear off if a command is not used)

XX+Arrow U Mana Shield Mari evelopes herself in a shield made of blue flames that cause damage to be taken from MP instead of HP. The shield last 10 seconds, although there is no cooldown and thus it can be summoned again to create a new one or to refresh the cooldown of the old one.(Note: Ironically, MP does not drain while the ability is active, despite it intending to use Mana for protection.)
XX+Arrow R Arcane Star

Mari summons a Nano Machine that strikes around her with a five-shaped star pattern.

(Note: a cooldown of 3 seconds will be applied in PvP when using this move.)

XX+Arrow L Arcane Burst

Mari summons a Nano Machine in front of her, which explodes on contact with an opponent or after few seconds.

(Note: a cooldown of 3 seconds will be applied in PvP when using this move.)

XX+Arrow D Arcane Fall

Mari launches a Nano Machine in air, which locks-on and crushes upon the opponent, exploding and damaging him. Each opponent in range of this attack will be targeted by a Nano Machine. If there are no targets, the Nano Machine will simply strike forward.

(Note: a cooldown of 3 seconds will be applied in PvP when using this move.)

W.D.W. Basic Attacks

Wing Drive Weapon (W.D.W.) are blades with the of a small array which follows behind Mari and can be used to attack enemies, similar to her summoned Orbs. Unlike Orbs' one-shot attacks, the blades are usable for 20 seconds (or 30 if they were summoned when Mari was under effect of Deadly Test),after which they will disappear.

Final Judgment

Mari charges energy with her four W.D.Ws and her six Nano Machines to release a preliminary laser before mowing the opposition with a full-powered laser beam.

  • Previously, the Rune Caster had to place craters (denominated "Sectors") before creating the machinery.

  • Previously, the Rune Caster could summon Orbs in her stance mode to attack her opponents.
  • It is likely possible that Rune Caster was modeled after the Paradom and the DK Mark-I, as she possesses one of their moves.
  • The rune of the Rune Caster is indentical to the rune on Magi's passive Darlet.
  • Oddly, when the Rune Caster performs specials Buster Lv 2 and Core Break, her Grimoire will become a blue-colored Klara Libri for the duration of the special. This could be a glitch or intentional.
    • Such could indicate that Mari possesses another clone of the Klara Libri, besides Grandiel. Another possible theory could be that she has the original Klara Libri (this could explain why her book can conjure powerful magic bursts), but it becomes blue to match her color identity and her specials.
  • Rune Caster's Core Break shares the same name as Geas's 4 MP Special skill.
  • Rune Caster's Final Judgement was based off of Elsword Eve's Psychic Artillery.
  • Rune Caster's Nuclear Strike was based off of Elsword Chung's Artillery Strike - Quantum Ballista.
