Heitaros Cratsus was the demon general who formed and commanded the Hardliners in an attempt to destroy civilizations, including the ancient kingdom of Kounat.

Background[]

Heitaros was born into a no-name family before rising to prominence among the demon forces. Representing lower demons, he rose to the top of the Demon World without the help of any nobility. After defeating Duel in the Ancient Demon Wars, Heitaros became renowned as the "Demon God" of Elyos. To prevent a new war, he decided to erect an army of Hardliners, emphasizing that the demonic tribes were threatened by the existence of other civilizations outside of their world and that they should act first by destroying these other beings.

Heitaros began to focus on obliterating other dimensions. He led his demon army through Dimensional Portals and entered Aernas. The largest gateway formed to the east of Kounat, and the demonic tribe immediately advanced on the City Center. Even though not everyone on Elyos supported the invasion, Heitaros acted very quickly, giving them no opportunity to intervene. The raid also alarmed the Kounat King who, in his desperation, invoked the help of the Three Goddesses, Ernasis, Lisnar, and Amenias. As a result, they led the Kounat army in a chaotic battle on the Artione Field against the demon forces.

The number of victims increased every moment, until Kounat's most powerful weapon, the Aernas Hammer, was eventually activated. It was a weapon that united magic, technology, and even the divine power of the gods. After sustaining serious injuries, Heitaros used a portal to escape and returned to Elyos. Without a leader, the remainder of the army began to disperse across the continent.

Story[]

Before reopening as GrandChase Classic, Heitaros neither appeared nor was mentioned in the story of the game. However, information about him was published in KOG Studios' official Naver blog. Then, Heitaros would be introduced simply as "Demon God" in the Another World content expansion of the game.

In the sequel[]

Act 1.9: Burning Abbey[]

When Arme considered giving herself up, Belile told her to view it as an honor since it would allow her to merge with Heitaros and enjoy an everlasting existence.

Act 4.9: The Temple's Core[]

Belile congratulated Fennel for securing Poseidon's body, stating they were one step closer to Lord Heitaros' full revival. Arme thought she recognized the name and asked Grandiel about it, but Kyle cut him off before he could speak.

Act 5.6: Hide in the Tomb![]

Lass explained how the Avatars of God were vessels carrying powerful prana and that the demons were planning something massive utilizing that power to resurrect Heitaros, afraid that if he was revived, not only Aernas but all the dimensional worlds would be in peril.

Act 7.6: Protector of the Door[]

When Decanee approached Belile, who was severely hurt, he continued to deny her being a demon even though Heitaros identified her as such. Then, despite everything, he begged the crafted doll to inform his master of her intentions, but Decanee just refused.

Epilogue 1.7: Fire and Ice[]

The General Affairs Bureau told Kiwi that instead of heading directly to the Demon World to resurrect Heitaros, Decanee traveled to a whole new dimension. Meanwhile, Decanee asked Elscud if he truly wanted to carry out their plan, but the Red Knight was adamant about stopping Heitaros.

Act 10.9: Corrupted Priests[]

Decanee asked Pino whether his act was an order from Heitaros, but Pino noted that she did not address Heitaros as "lord," leading him to assume she had already picked a side. Before leaving, he warned Decanee to stay away from the Demon World since it was now under Lord Heitaros who had recently overthrown Veigas.

Epilogue 3.6: The World's End[]

In a flashback that continued from when Grandiel locked Ashtaroth and himself in the Wizard's Labyrinth, he revealed to Elscud that Baldinar's men had acquired the power of the False Creator and were able to give form to a mere thought of Heitaros. Elscud was concerned, but Grandiel reassured him that Heitaros had not fully resurrected since the soul of Baldinar they had stolen was not in perfect condition.

Epilogue 3.7: New World[]

After his conversation with Elscud in the previous flashback, Grandiel located the missing pieces of Baldinar's soul to prevent Heitaros from fully reviving but could not bring himself to destroy them because they had manifested into the form of two children.

With Ley suggesting that they bring Kyle to Oz in the Demon World, Elesis expected Heitaros would also be there thus they had determined where to go next.

Act 15.2: To Father's Room[]

Kiwi informed the Grand Chase that Heitaros had already invaded the Demon World and was named the Supreme Commander of the New Hardliners.

Act 15.3: Betrayer's Identity[]

Ley told Cindy that the Hardliners were considerably more powerful under Heitaros' prior leadership, but the current balance resulted from Heitaros' failure 2,000 years ago and Veigas' assumption of control. She was perplexed as to how Heitaros had suddenly returned after not being able to recover for so long.

Act 15.5: The World of Politics[]

When Ryan asked why Heitaros assaulted a fellow Hardliner, Alfred said that when Veigas took over as the group's leader, he executed Heitaros' followers. As a result, two factions of Hardliners—those who supported Veigas and those who supported Heitaros—emerged. Arme and Alfred both agreed that Heitaros had to have despised Veigas more than the Moderates, which explained why he dealt with Veigas before the coup.

Act 16.1: Sky City[]

When asked about the current state of the Demon World, Alfred said that the power Heitaros recovered from Ashtaroth's remains was inadequate to destroy Veigas and his army, therefore, he had orchestrated Veigas' expedition to Aernas in the guise of the Creator. When the leaders of the Hardliners and Moderates left, Heitaros took advantage of the chance to seize the Demon World, and Oz continued by saying that the Grand Chase needed Veigas' assistance to stop him.

Act 16.8: The Demon God and the Four Demon Kings[]

Alfred explained to Jin that the titles "Demon God" and the "Four Demon Kings" were coined during the Ancient War and just stuck with the five strongest beings in the Demon World. Heitaros, who won against Duel, was given the title of Demon God, while the other four were given the titles of Demon Kings.

Meanwhile, Heitaros' voice had begun to breach Kyle's mind.

Epilogue 4.2: The Opposition Strikes Back[]

To Veigas' displeasure, he had gone with Sieghart and Dio to infiltrate Purgatory and release thousands of Heitaros-opposing prisoners, forming the Anti-Heitaros Alliance which would give Heitaros' army a resounding defeat. Heitaros was informed by Pino of this plot, and when the servant claimed to have finally adjusted to the human shape, Heitaros grinned menacingly.

Epilogue 4.5: Stop the Bombardment[]

When Dio questioned why Tekarion had betrayed the Demon Congress, which had contracted him in the first place, and joined Heitaros, the dragon responded that no one had betrayed anyone because Heitaros had since taken control of the Congress.

Act 17.3: Grudge of Harpy[]

In a flashback, Peter and Werner were arguing over the latter's plan of using himself as bait to lure Duel away from his troops. The bloody ruler contended to leave that kind of work to Heitaros as he was eager to fight Duel and would accept it straight away, but Werner insisted that the Ancient Demon had no motive to accept a battle against Heitaros.

Act 18.1: Siege on Top of the Castle Wall[]

In another flashback, Heitaros approached Duel and told him that after their battle was over, he would succeed Duel as the new Demon God.

Act 18.9: Commander's Identity[]

The group came across Johanna, who confirmed Oz's idea that Heitaros was searching for something in the Underworld that could lead to invasion.

Act 19.1: To the Abyss[]

Dio questioned Oz about his knowledge of Heitaros' plan, but Oz refused to answer. Veigas then stated that the doctor was just feeling guilty because he had joined hands with the Demon God in the past. Mari had the impression that Duel would also visit the Underworld, therefore it was decided to tell them of the news before Heitaros.

Act 19.3: Ecosystem of the Abyss[]

Heitaros cautioned Johanna not to take the Grand Chase lightly after she was defeated beforehand with Karp suggesting he handle the problem himself.

Epilogue 5.2: Underworld Ambassador[]

After discovering that Ambassador Gui Lang had joined forces with Heitaros' army, the Grand Chase feared that Heitaros may already have a friendly power in the Underworld and had inspired a pro-Heitaros group.

Act 20.1: Ground of Starving People[]

As the Grand Chase prepared to meet the elites of the Underworld, Rufus asserted that the influence of demons in the Underworld was absolute and that high-ranking individuals had already fallen for Heitaros.

Act 20.4: Haros Justice Army[]

The Grand Chase happened to come across Queen Hwarin, who had been alerted of Heitaros' invasion. She did, however, admit that she no longer had the authority to make decisions on behalf of the Underworld and that she was seeking aid from the Haros Justice Army, making it clear that it was the Demon God who had damaged the army's reputation.

Act 20.9: Enlisting in the Army[]

Oz asserted that building a fort would be pointless since the Demon God must have another invasion route aside from the Underworld Train and that the enemies they had faced were simply supplemental forces because Heitaros would seek to prolong the conflict.

Act 21.7: Stop the Revolution![]

Pino informed Heitaros that they were ready to engage in combat. The Demon God rose from his seat and motioned his people ahead.

Act 21.9: Lost Person[]

Oz had broken his silence when questioned about the Demon God's purpose once more and said that Heitaros was looking for a key that was taken by two Haros a long time ago which was made from the core of Ancient Demons. Suddenly, there was an ominous disturbance in the sky, and Veigas was pleased that Heitaros had arrived at last.

Epilogue 6.1: Swaying Ambition[]

In a flashback, Oz spoke with Legis and Tristan about a request of his for them to put an end to Heitaros' scheme. As a result of Tristan's objections, the two Bounty Hunters got into a fight.

Johanna, fed up with Oz getting in her way, insisted on how the Demon God would create the world around Elyos so that demons may prosper. She said that this would not violate the laws of the world because Heitaros would then serve as the foundation of all laws.

Epilogue 6.4: Ruler's Rights[]

Heitaros approached Decanee, whom he anticipated to be in tears because her plans had failed. He wondered why she sought to thwart his plans when they once aligned with hers. After she declined to fight him, the Demon God mocked Decanee for having others kill him for her adding that everything she would do would be for his benefit.

Heitaros then posed as an illusion of Baldinar in Kyle's head, seducing him to embrace rather than reject his instinct because his sense of "righteousness" had only burdened his friends.

Epilogue 6.6: Casted Shadow of Greed[]

Baldinar appeared behind Kyle, confusing the Grand Chase, but Duel immediately recognized it was Heitaros impersonating him much to the Demon God's amusement. Nelia said that Baldinar no longer existed and had already been consumed by Heitaros, adding that he should be honored because he was used as an offering for the Demon God's resurrection. Edna expressed her disgust after learning that Heitaros held some of the Creator's power and seeing how the Demon God was exploiting it.

Heitaros faced the army of Duel and casually parried their attacks. Nelia offered to help, but the Demon God declined since he was having so much joy battling the Ancient Demons. While impressed by Duel's powerful army, Heitaros noted that Duel's memory, body, and soul were unstable and pitied his sorry state. Heitaros was confident that he could defeat any opponent in the area.

Heitaros was amused to learn that Tristan had betrayed him, and he told the Bounty Hunter how ambitious he had become in demanding equal treatment while only caring about himself. Tristan convinced he possessed equal power, challenged the Demon God which he gladly accepted.

Epilogue 6.7: Crazy Envoy[]

As Pino checked on Heitaros when things did not go as planned, the Demon God said that there was a trap and that it would have been difficult even without the opponents. Pino was concerned about his strength but to the servant's surprise, Heitaros had kidnapped Kyle and was asked whether he wanted to absorb him. Pino brought Heitaros back to the Demon World as soon as he heard his response.

Act 31.1: No Soul No Mind[]

Pino came to Pandemonium and advised Decanee to seek forgiveness from Heitaros since he believed the Demon God was pleased with her accomplishments. Pino also threatened the demon, reminding her that Heitaros was still her Creator and that the Demon God could do whatever he pleased with her as a chess piece in his game.

Act 33.9: Vessel of the Demon God[]

When Callisto arrived in Myst's Underground Labyrinth, the angel realized Kyle was how Heitaros would be able to acquire a great deal of power and the reason Heitaros did not simply resurrect right away. The angel concluded that the black knight's existence was proof that the Demon God had violated the law.

Act 34.1: Temporary Declaration[]

The demon leaders realized, much to Veigas' frustration, that the Terre Gate territory he had previously lost to Heitaros had been taken over by the angels.

Act 34.3: Jupiter's Army[]

Veigas was puzzled when Jupiter's Hyperion appeared among the celestial army because he thought Heitaros had already slain the deity in the past.

Act 34.9: How to Complete a Melody[]

Act034002

Heitaros, who had earlier invaded the Spirit World, was seen holding the dragon Tiamat by the neck, seemingly already dead, and was awaiting the arrival of their guests, the Grand Chase.

Act 35.1: Charge! Beyond the Purgatory[]

Heitaros met up with Nelia, who proposed to work with him as his equal using Kyle as her payment. He accepted the offer on the condition that the Demon Queen of Greed must not trust the Abaddon. Heitaros stated that there was no need to worry about Veigas regaining control of the Terre Gate since things would change after they "expand the horizon."

Act 35.4: Spirits Do Not Judge[]

When Lire questioned why the spirits were supporting Heitaros, Ragnar stated that common spirits would grant wishes regardless of who contracted them since they were influenced more by the higher existence than their inclinations.

Act 35.8: Crisis Into Opportunity![]

Tia revealed that Heitaros had slain Gaiaron, the last active Spirit Lord, and she expressed guilt for not being able to protect the dragon from the Demon God.

Act 37.1: Shoot the Demon God's Heart[]

After turning Lire into the Avatar of the Storm and telling her that Heitaros was driven by a hunger that may consume the entire world, the Spirit Lord Innadril tasked the elf to aim for the Demon God's heart using her bow.

Act 37.3: To Become a King[]

When she was defeated, Ragnar told Tia that she was not able to qualify as an Heir to the Earth Dragon King because Heitaros somehow managed to control the Earth Throne before her.

The Demon God assured Nelia that his resurrection would be completed shortly, but that the new human vessel he had secured would only be temporary since it was too delicate for him. Heitaros warned Nelia not to do anything with the body, adding it was worth a thousand years of his hunger with the dragons being then used for its nutrition. When asked about Innadril, the Demon God wished the Spirit Lord would just awaken already so that they might at least have some entertainment.

Act 37.6: Follow the Flow of Nature[]

When they saw the supposed Earth Dragon King, Cindy determined that it was a recreated being similar to the Spirit Lord and that Heitaros' False Creator powers had grown significantly stronger over time.

Act 37.8: The Arrow Finally Reached[]

The Grand Chase discovered in a crystal the new vessel Heitaros was using to consume all life in the Spirit World. Heitaros fell to his knees as the Storm Bringer pierced her arrow through the crystal. The enraged Demon God demanded that Kronix bring him the energy he had initially saved for the new body but in panic had instead absorbed the baron before he could even respond.

Act 37.9: Come, Winter[]

Heitaros attacked the Grand Chase for what they had done to the vessel. The Demon God regretted how he had paid too high a price for underestimating the warriors and failing to protect his new shell, vowing to kill them there even if he had not fully recovered.

Despite his weakened state, Heitaros easily defeated the Grand Chase. But when his right arm suddenly fell off, he realized the side effect had become severe and his current shell started to deteriorate. With Ragnar delivering a surprise attack that dealt a fatal blow, the Demon God threatened the dragons he would no longer show mercy. He then used more power but was stopped by Pino, who came to quell his wrath. Hearing about the current state of affairs in Elyos, Heitaros admitted he got too impatient and left abruptly.

Act 38.1: Vessel of the Demon God[]

Likability Veigas 01

In Heitaros' history, as presented from his perspective, he first spoke of nobles who had high-ranking demon blood in them and how commoners like himself did not dare look up. When he had become powerful enough to amass a following, he thought the nobles were no longer superior and he realized his purpose. Heitaros believed that only strength mattered and he proved it through Duel, winning even more admirers. He who became the Demon God no longer needed the authority of nobles. As the avatar of destruction, Heitaros devastated countless worlds. However, the moment he entered Aernas, his glory was over.

Back in the Terre Palace, Heitaros laughed at his misery as he continued to reminisce about his former glory. He swore not to linger on the past anymore and to hesitate again, instructing Pino to retrieve Kyle from Nelia.

Act 39.4: Before the Ritual Begins[]

Amal'thea directed the Grand Chase to the Temple of Shadow after claiming that Kyle was on his way to kill the Demon God and that Heitaros would be waiting for the vessel there.

Act 39.6: Veigas' Vengeance[]

Heitaros, who was watching Pino fight Veigas to the end, thanked the servant and promised to never forget him. He then warned Kyle, who had just arrived, not to exert himself since his shattered soul was already at its breaking point, provoking the vessel on whether he could indeed kill the Demon God, as whoever gave him the idea had said.

Act 39.8: Ominous Aura[]

The Grand Chase found Heitaros in the temple just as Amal'thea had said. Sieghart thought they were too late because Kyle was already lying face down in front of the Demon God, but Cindy dismissed this and rushed forward.

Act 39.9: Soul Healer[]

The Grand Chase advanced toward Heitaros to protect Cindy from him, but they were only met with a blank stare. They realized that something was amiss with the Demon God and by the time Cindy succeeded to mend Kyle's soul, Heitaros had already taken over the vessel.

Act 40.1: Heitaros' Resurrection[]

Heitaros had at last resurrected as the False Creator through Kyle's soul and was thankful to the Grand Chase for their inexperience in dealing with deceit, which ultimately worked in his favor. He disregarded Cindy's futile attempts to reach out to Kyle, claiming that he was already gone, but the vessel managed to speak for a brief moment, and he suspected that the consciousness had not yet dissolved completely. Heitaros chose to spare the Grand Chase and said that they deserved to witness the birth of a new world, or the "new Genesis of the Creator," as he put it.

Heitaros approached Veigas and mocked the Demon King's intelligence for thinking that the human vessel was too weak against him, letting Veigas have the title of Demon God for himself since Heitaros no longer needed it as the Creator. He then demonstrated his power to recreate by changing Veigas' entire army into newly created beings and announcing he would allow everyone to be a part of the new era.

Act 40.3: Slave to Instinct[]

Another revelation presented from Heitaros' point of view was that the New Demons were merely the Ancient Demons' substitutes, which he refused to believe at first as he thought the Ancient Demons were just spouting nonsense. However, after wiping out world after world, Heitaros realized they were right all along because, unlike the Ancient Demons, who could turn away from their obligations, the New Demons were designed with destructive tendencies, something he was unable to change even with the power of recreation as observed from his Linesse.

At that point, the Demon God accepted that the title he held dear for so long had meant nothing at all. He told Amal'thea, whom he had been wary of from the start, not to wait for his demise through the broken vessel she provided since life had stopped pouring out of Kyle's soul when mended by Cindy. He attacked the ruthless angel afterward.

Act 40.5: Declaration of Genesis[]

Heitaros continued to recreate the lesser demons, encouraging them to rejoice at the impending commencement of the new Genesis, which would finally rid them of their destructive instincts.

Act 40.6: Creator's Gift[]

Heitaros laughed as the Grand Chase continued to oppose him rather than escape, delighted that they had ridden their fears and were allowing themselves to witness the new Genesis. Heitaros left them with the Creator's Gift, promising them that their will would be fulfilled in the new world.

Sieghart left with Heitaros to the astral plane without informing the Grand Chase. As Heitaros began the new Genesis, he commented on Sieghart's immortality, which he said was poison to his feeble mind, and warned him not to do anything foolish, but Sieghart cut him off, accusing him of failing to maintain his end of the bargain which was to allow the Highlander apologize to the real Kyle.

Act 40.8: Survival Instinct[]

Heitaros wailed in agony as Kyle deliberately stabbed his very soul following the advice Amal'thea had given earlier, much to the demon's fury. After getting his bearings, Heitaros found himself in his true form. The demon initially blamed Myst, who appeared with him in the astral plane, but soon learned from the Abaddon that Heitaros had already been killed and the demon's miserable state was the consequence of Heitaros' frantic attempt to recreate himself with what little strength he had left.

Ashamed that a kid like Kyle had put his life on the line while he, the Demon God, succumbed to his survival instinct, Heitaros vowed not to back down anymore and used all of his remaining powers to create the perfect world.

Act 40.9: Big Bang![]

Veigas mocked Heitaros for avoiding death like a coward, but Heitaros said that a noble like the Demon King, who could live eternally, would never understand those who lacked the autonomy to resist fate. The Demon God had overcome his fear and opened Genesis, causing the world to shatter.

In the end, Heitaros was defeated by the Grand Chase and remarked how it was like a repeat of the First Demon War, with the Burning Canyon fighting alongside humanity once again, casting doubt on Dio's stance as a demon leader. Heitaros admitted that he may not have the power to change the world after losing Kyle, but he thought he could use his own recreated corpse as a seed to conceive his new Genesis. He stood by his choice to disobey the Creator's rule and insisted that what he did was for the fate of the demon race.

Along with Heitaros crumbling after taking the final hit were his dreams which he thought were almost within his reach.

Attacks[]

Heitaros can be fought as a boss in Act 37.9: Come, Winter. He reappears in Act 39.9: Soul Healer.

Heitaros, in his true form, must be defeated once again in Act 40.9: Big Bang!.

Dual Raid[]

Heitaros can enter the 'Megamorph' state, creating a 'Domain of Return' after a while. Once this returning zone reaches the maximum area, it applies a permanent debuff and deals damage over time therefore Heitaros must be quickly defeated during this transformation.

Before getting swept away by the explosion, the player may also escape to any 'Elements of Genesis' by directing party members into the zone with the color that matches no Soul Stream on the field.

Trivia[]

Demonleader

Concept art of Heitaros with demonic wings.

  • Previous artworks of Heitaros depicted him with pairs of demon wings. However, all of his present character images as well as in-game models have none.
  • In his true form, Heitaros' design bears a resemblance to the Abyss of Demon World creatures such as Navarus and the Queen of Abyss.
    • It is possible that Heitaros also originated from the Abyss of Demon World.
